Doorstep Trash Collection

How it Works

 

• Sunday through Thursday nights - securely tie trash bag in the container, and place trash container outside your door between 6pm and 7pm.

• Trash/Recycling collection will begin at 7pm. A uniformed employee of American Waste Services will dispose of trash/recycling for you.

• Bring trash container back inside once service has been completed.

• Recycling must be placed in a blue or clear recycling bag and placed inside the trash can; not on top (per NC Fire Code rules).

• There will not be trash/recycling service on the following holidays: Easter, Juneteenth, July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Memorial Day and Labor Day will be observed on Sunday, not Monday. Please dispose of trash in the on-site dumpster on non collection days (holidays and weekends). 

 

Trash Collection Rules

• NOTHING MAY BE PLACED OUTSIDE OR ON TOP OF TRASH CAN (per NC fire code - North Carolina properties only)

• All trash must be in a securely tied, 13 gallon trash bag. No oversized bags or shopping, grocery, or paper bags may be used. 

• All trash must be placed inside the provided trash container, with bag tied and lid closed.

• All boxes must be broken down and placed inside trash container. (per NC fire code)

• Large, bulky or oversized items will not be collected.

• Heavy bags that can’t be removed/transported without ripping, will not be collected. (Bags should weigh less than 20 lbs as a general guideline)

• Trash container must be brought back inside apartment once collection is completed.

• No liquids in trash bags.

• No hazardous materials or sharp objects in trash bags

• Residents are asked to take their trash to the on-site dumpster on non collection days.
